About This Place

Located in the heart of Finsbury Park, London, Jai Krishna is a vibrant Indian vegetarian restaurant that promises an authentic dive into the rich flavors of Indian cuisine. Specializing in vegetarian delights, this bustling eatery invites diners to savor a variety of classic and exotic dishes that brilliantly showcase the depth and diversity of Indian cooking.

Step into Jai Krishna and prepare for an energetic dining experience where the aroma of freshly prepared spices fills the air. The menu is a treasure trove of irresistible options, from the crisp, golden Masala Dosa to the hearty, flavorsome Thali platters that offer an assortment of delectable bites including Jeera Rice, Chana Masala, and Bombay Aloo. Adventurous eaters will delight in the Panipuri and Papri Chaat—bursting with tangy and spicy notes—while comforting staples like Paratha and Chapati offer a soothing balance. Don’t miss the luscious, sweet finish with Gulab Jamun paired perfectly with a refreshing glass of Lassi.

Jai Krishna also features a tempting range of exotic dishes like Malai Kofta, Mushroom Dopiaza, Shahi Paneer, and Sarson Da Saag, each crafted with meticulous care to highlight the layered complexity of Indian spices and textures. The delightful variety of chutneys, pickles, and side salads such as the cooling Cucumber Raitha and the signature Jai Krishna Special Chutney, further enhance the flavors, providing a vibrant palette of tastes with every bite.

While the atmosphere is informal and lively—sometimes bustling and noisy, especially during peak hours—it perfectly suits groups of friends or families eager to share and explore multiple dishes. The vibe reflects a communal and authentic dining experience rather than a quiet, romantic setting. Customers appreciate the generous portions and authentic hospitality from the staff, often highlighting personalized recommendations that lead to discovering new favorite dishes.

One particularly charming aspect is the BYOB policy with a reasonable corkage fee, allowing guests to pair their meal with their choice of alcohol, making the evening all the more special without stretching the wallet. It’s worth noting the space is intimate, so tables can feel a bit snug when more than two people are dining, but this adds to the cozy, vibrant environment typical of many beloved Indian eateries.

From the hands-on ordering method, where diners jot down their choices and engage directly with the staff, to the steady flow of warm, mouthwatering plates delivered fresh from the kitchen, Jai Krishna encapsulates a genuine and heartfelt Indian dining journey. Whether you’re craving the crisp textures of Bhajia Mix or the rich, creamy notes of Dal Makhani, this restaurant promises fulfilling, soul-satisfying meals at great value.

If you’re on the lookout for authentic Indian vegetarian cuisine that respects tradition yet encourages communal sharing and vibrant flavors, Jai Krishna on Stroud Green Road is an essential stop. Just bring your appetite, your drink of choice, and prepare for a delicious, energetic culinary adventure.

Great food but gets very noisy and crowded. Tables are small and sometimes difficult to fit all the food and drinks when there’s only two people. Be ready to write your own order on the paper you’re given and flag down the service staff when ready to order. Food comes out as it’s ready but it delicious and filling. You can bring your own alcohol for a very reasonable corkage charge

Authentic dishes, friendly staff, and great value for money. I was recommended a few dishes I wouldn’t normally go for, and absolutely loved them! Highly recommend to anyone looking for delicious, authentic Indian food.

Delicious food and Alva (sorry if I have misspelt her name) was absolutely wonderful! Thank you for the lovely experience. Also very good portions for the price.

Quite an informal place to eat but with plenty on the menu to offer that will cater pretty much everyone. I would say this is one of those places that is best enjoyed as a group as you can order almost infinite dished to share and try. The only downside is that it gets pretty cramped and perhaps a bit too loud so not a place for a romantic date. They take only cash so remember to withdraw money beforehand

Casual Indian spot. BYOB. Great prices! Prepare to be in a loud environment though as it gets quite loud.

Amazing authentic South Indian food that caters to everyone! Most of the menu is vegan and non-vegan options are labeled as such on the menu. The food is heavenly (I highly recommend their saag, dosa, and bhel puri) and the people were very welcoming. It is a casual dining spot with affordable prices and great food, meaning it’s usually packed. Added bonus is that the place is BYOB with a bare minimum corkage charge. Bring wine to share with friends and you’re good to go!
